Performance Build Service - V160

Toyota / Getrag have discontinued support for this gear box. We are working with multiple manufacturers to have replacement / upgraded parts made and to keep the V160 alive.

 

This performance transmission build service includes replacing the most common wear items in the transmission, while providing upgrades / improvements over several key components. This build package includes:

  • 1st - 4th Inner Synchro Rings
  • 1st - 4th Friction Liners
  • 5th - 6th Synchro Rings
  • Oil Seals (Front / Rear / Control Rod)
  • 1st - 2nd (Gear / Hub) Slider
  • Gear Shifting Interlock (Replaced with latest revision)
  • 1-2 & 3-4 Shift Fork Pin Holes are threaded / modified to use bolts for reliability
  • Input Preload set to our own specs for high power applications and long gear life (no gear whining -- we DO NOT follow the manual as it is incorrect!)

OPTIONAL UPGRADES:

WPC GEAR TREATMENT

WPC is a permanent surface treatment that reduces friction while strengthening the part. Its unique micro-dimple formation pattern greatly reduces friction and is unmatched by conventional methods of surface treatment. It is a proven process that has been utilized for many years in the racing and automotive industry and is complimented by utilizing our micropolish treatment. WPC can strengthen parts in two ways. First it adds an extremely high level of compressive stress at, and near, the surface. The second, is that the WPC treatment creates a Nano - Crystalline structure at the surface of the metal. Both of these mean that metal fatigue and crack initiation are both noticeably reduced; thus strengthening the gears and shafts inside of the transmission.

 

MICROPOLISH

Micropolishing is a gentle polish on the gears done by machine that will smooth and remove some stress concentrations uniformly. It also polishes the gears in the area they make contact with other parts, so you have less friction loss which means less heat, better fuel economy, and longer life.

 

MID-CASE MODIFICATIONS

We can modify the OEM center housing to allow more oil to reach the drive gears during a long acceleration pull. The drive gears are located at the front of the trans. This means when you accelerate hard the oil works its way to the back of the trans and your front drive gears run without oil (at full power too) and they burn up and start to whine. If you are tired of whining V160 gears, this build will help assure it will not happen again. Alternatively, we also have a Billet Mid-Case Assembly Upgrade.

BILLET SHIFT FORKS

These billet shift forks are made from 7075 aluminum, hard anodized, and include modified oil passages for greater lubrication.

We hard anodized for:
• Increased Wear Resistance
• Increased Abrasion Resistance

These billet forks are beefed up a bit over the OEM castings and the 7075 aluminum is about twice as strong as the stock castings. Engineered exclusively by Jacks Transmissions.

HEAVILY WORN OR DAMAGED UNITS

Please note - any additional parts needed which are not listed and not part of this build will cost extra to replace.  We will email with pictures and detailed information if this is the case.  We know you do not like surprises, so we try to make this process as painless as possible.  If this turns out to be the case, please note that it is due to the fact that we want you to have the highest quality trans possible.  Again, quality is the key here and sometimes it costs more to do this in an aging platform.  It is not worth the risk of using a sub-par part if inspection reveals it is a weak link.

This unit is covered by our 14 month, unlimited mileage warranty.  

 

Does your V160 whine?  If so, we can fix it!  The whine can be caused by many things, but in most cases it is due to a damaged and wiped out input and counter 5th gear.  Please EMAIL US for more info.  

Parts cleaned using industrial parts washers. Exceptionally clean units is one of the reasons why our transmissions are the highest quality in the business!  We have state-of-the-art cleaning equipment which other trans builders could only dream of.  More info HERE

With the best cleaning equipment, we also have a very clean facility.  All units are built in a spotless environment and using tools, and benches, which are clean and only used for assembly purposes.  In other words, the same tools used to pull your dirty old trans out of your car are NOT the same tools used to rebuild your pristine unit afterward. Take a look at the typical shop and check their tools.  It is shocking how dirty things are in most shops and that dirt will end up in your unit.  That doesn't happen here.
